KOMONO Light Blue Capsule line: a tribute to skateboarding


Inspired by LA’s skateboarding ‘pools’, the Belgian brand Komono launches a capsule collection of contemporary glasses, watches and eyewear accessories in a striking and unusual light blue hue. The line looks back at LA in the 1970s and 1980s, when some of the worst droughts in the city’s history drained hundreds of “backyard pools” around the city. The pools were used by teenagers to introduce a new fashion of skateboarding, which took off as a global craze, remaining popular ever since.
Komono imagines a line within this mood of skate culture, with a new campaign launch, shot at the famous Pink Motel, in Sun Valley. The blue frame tones coordinate with the colourful backdrop. Komono was founded in Belgium in 2009 by Raf Maes and Anton Janssens and is known for sleek design, colour and a minimal yet bold aesthetic.
