MIDO Awards 2026: the Ceremony Celebrating Excellence in Eyewear

Written by MIDO | 02/01/2026

The MIDO Awards 2026 ceremony took place today, one of the most eagerly awaited events of the show: a moment when the eyewear industry pauses to look at itself and reward what is truly making a difference. On the stage of the Fashion Square, hosted by the President of MIDO and ANFAO, Lorraine Berton, together with Simone Lijoi, the international eyewear community gathered to celebrate projects capable of combining vision, quality, and impact.

Among the awards presented, the Best Store Award (11th edition) recognized optical stores that transform retail into an experience - not just aesthetic, but also identity-driven, relational, and attentive to detail.

In the Best Store Design category, the award went to AndréOpticas Chiado by André Leal (Lisbon, Portugal), honored for a concept that reinterprets a vintage luxury railway carriage and guides visitors through an immersive journey of warm woods, brass details, and a curated selection of independent brands and collectible pieces.

The Best Store Innovation award was presented to Optocentro by Rui Motty (Lisbon, Portugal), selected for its “Flight to 2050” vision, an advanced project integrating sustainability, technology, and clinical excellence to build a more accessible, efficient, and contemporary customer experience.

Sustainability was also celebrated as a concrete and competitive driver for the sector through the CSE Award – Certified Sustainable Eyewear, dedicated to exhibitors who interpret green commitment in a measurable and tangible way, enhancing materials, processes, and supply chains through a structured approach.

In the Frames category, the award was given to Marchon Italia for the Calvin Klein CK25548 frame, recognized for its use of Acetate Renew with bio-based and recycled content and for a fully disassemblable and recyclable design, a concrete example of eco-design applied to the product, from raw materials to end of life.

In the Sunglasses category, the CSE Award went to Silhouette International for the Mavillette – Model 4089, made from SPX Green+, an innovative bio-circular material that significantly reduces carbon footprint, combined with production processes powered 100% by renewable energy.

For the Cases category, the award was presented to Llexan Italia for the 02G case, designed according to circular economy principles, using recycled and biodegradable materials and a predominantly local production chain, demonstrating how sustainability and innovation can coexist even in the smallest details.

A new feature of the 2026 edition was the CSE Corporate Award, created to honor the exhibiting company that has most structurally integrated ESG principles into its strategy. The award was presented to Safilo, recognized for its solid governance, climate targets validated according to SBTi standards, and an advanced reporting system compliant with ESRS. An industrial model that combines long-term vision, responsible innovation, and measurable impacts on the environment, people, and the supply chain.

With the MIDO Awards 2026, the exhibition confirms its role as an international platform capable of enhancing not only products but also the choices that determine their long-term value: design, experience, responsibility, and vision thus become the true parameters of contemporary eyewear excellence.
