Today, 18 November 2021, is the 130th anniversary of the birth of the famous architect, designer and art director Gio Ponti. To mark the occasion, the Molteni Group is dedicating a series of initiatives to the great master, involving the Molteni&C|Dada Flagship Stores in London, Paris and New York, the websites, social channels and with the Taschen publishing house as its sole partner. During this month, the windows of the stores mentioned above will host the book dedicated to the master and produced by Taschen in collaboration with the Gio Ponti Archives and Ponti's heirs.
In addition, starting today and for the following three days, the documentary "Amare Gio Ponti", curated by Francesca Molteni, will be shown exclusively on Molteni.it.
The visual tribute to the great architect includes an interview with the master, who gives us a picture of his architectural projects and custom-made furnishings, from Villa Planchart to Palazzo Montecatini and the Pirelli skyscraper in Milan. Architectural projects in which the freedom of design reigned supreme, because Ponti really loved to design anything, from the building itself to its furnishings and finishes.
This is the first documentary dedicated to the great master, with direct testimony from his heirs - his children Lisa, Letizia and Giulio and his grandchildren Salvatore Licitra and Paolo Rosselli - and interviews with key figures such as Vittorio Gregotti, Fulvio Irace, Enzo Mari, Giovanna and Maria Grazia Mazzocchi, Alessandro Mendini, Nanda Vigo and Bob Wilson. The documentary also features an exclusive interview with publisher Benedikt Taschen, a great admirer and collector of Ponti.
