WMIDO - Milano Eyewear Show - February 4-5-6 - 2023

Mido takes off with a host of surprises

May 6 2005

More than 2 million new styles are expected, and 120 hours of training courses and meetings with experts in the sector are scheduled. This year's Mido will once again be a truly important forum and the most reliable indicator of how the industry is faring. As always, the intent is to offer the trade a completely revamped event with a wide range of interesting meetings.

The 35th exhibition will host 1,222 exhibitors from 125 countries, of these 352 are Italian and 870 are from overseas. The fact that more than 60% of exhibiting companies are from other countries is a testament to the strictly international profile of the event.

The net exhibition space has also been increased slightly to occupy 46,700 sq.m. (130 sq.m gross exhibition space) while the 7 group stands last year from America, China, Japan, Hong Kong, England, Israel and Taiwan have confirmed their participation.

All product areas will be represented: sunglasses, prescription frames, lenses, machinery, cases and components. Mido has always been a source of concrete business opportunities and contacts.

Always a keen observer of shifting market trends, this year Mido has opened its doors to 'junior' eyewear: a new entry in the exhibition's winning team is the space dedicated to children's eyewear, Mido Kids. The appointment is in the passageway between pavilions 15 and 16: this area will display the latest offerings in sunglasses and prescription frames, special lenses and modern brightly colored cases for the younger consumers.

The area reserved for sports activities that was inaugurated last year will be back again: Mido Sport will showcase special frames and lenses for sports.

Virtual eyewear will be on stage for the first time in the Mido Kids and Mido Sport areas with a hologram providing a perfect 3D reproduction, made of pure light, of the most important pieces at the exhibition.

Fashion, trends, and design: anything that can be dubbed 'trendy' can be found in Pavilion 16/II, where the place to head for is Mido Trend. This area, which celebrates anything that anticipates fashions as well as the most eccentric and cutting-edge styles, is the showcase where more than one hundred carefully-selected creative talents and designers of frames from across the world display their creations. This is also the area where fashions take shape and trends are set. A must-see for anyone who lives and works 'in' and 'for' the fashion system or simply for fashion- and look-conscious people.

Just like every year, the focus is also on machinery and ophthalmic lenses with a dedicated area called Mido Tech in Hall 19. This is where hundreds of companies unveil everything it takes to manufacture a pair of glasses to the public at large: raw materials, cutting-edge processing methods, ultra-modern lenses and next-generation technologies.

Mido Education (gallery Pavilion 14), now being staged for the second time, is a unique opportunity for high-caliber training that Mido places at the disposal of trade people: 30 CME-accredited courses held by national and international experts, professors from Bocconi University and speakers from the U.S. as well as prominent fashion journalists. Mido Education is an unparalleled opportunity to take advantage of very high quality refresher courses and training directly at the exhibition. This is very difficult to find elsewhere and Mido is the first and only European exhibition to offer this service.

Mido is the typical example of an international exhibition. More than 60% of its exhibitors are from 125 different countries. This great added value allows Mido to attract the attention of buyers and trade people from across the world. An unmissable appointment for anyone working in the eyewear industry. It comes as no surprise therefore, that for the first time associations of lens and eyewear manufacturers from around the world will be at Mido for the 1st World Wide Vision Coalition meeting, to talk about international standards, counterfeiting and global markets.
