In 2014, the LVMH Group launched The "Métiers d'Excellence" program with the aim of promoting and publicizing the craft skills of the more than 200 artisanal crafts that characterize the fine workmanship of the Group's Maisons around the world. Last July, the project was further strengthened by the agreement "WE for ME" ("Worldwide Engagements for Métiers d'Excellence"), in which all 75 Maisons of the Group signed their commitment to give a new impetus to these crafts and their savoir-faire, with the dual aim of attracting young people towards them and of making institutions aware of the importance of supporting and enhancing these types of careers.
For the first time, also Thélios featured in the project and selection of the “virtuous”. The first to be rewarded were the French talents, including Mathieu Jamin, Chief Design Officer of Thélios, the creative mind behind the eyewear collections. On Friday 19 November, in Florence, it was the turn of the Italians, with recognition awarded to the professionalism and expertise of Enrico Cori, chief of the Longarone Prototype division of Manifattura Thélios, in the heart of Belluno’s Eyewear District.
Thélios is strongly involved in the transmission of its know-how to the younger generations, through numerous initiatives in its native region. These initiatives include partnerships with Certottica and the Politecnico dell’Occhialeria, which see the specialised eyewear company involved in activity both in schools and in training courses and internships/placements.
