From May 7 to 10 at Rome’s Circo Massimo: free vision screenings for women under 30, aged 40–45 and over 65.
From May 7 to 10, 2026, at Rome’s Circo Massimo, Commissione Difesa Vista ETS renews its participation in the Race for the Cure for the tenth consecutive year. Promoted by Susan G. Komen Italia, the event is the largest initiative in Italy dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
For the 2026 edition, CDV will once again take part as a partner with initiatives focused on vision prevention, aiming to raise awareness about the importance of eye health and regular check-ups.
Free vision screenings will be offered, particularly targeting young women under 30, women aged 40 to 45, and individuals over 65—age groups in which prevention plays a crucial role in the early detection of potential visual impairments and in maintaining quality of life.
Supporting these activities, alongside ophthalmologists, orthoptists and volunteer opticians, will also be students from the Degree Course in Optics and Optometry at Roma Tre University, who will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience while actively contributing to prevention initiatives.
The participation of Commissione Difesa Vista ETS is part of a broader commitment to promoting a culture of prevention. Regular eye examinations enable the early identification of even asymptomatic conditions, reducing the risk of more serious diseases and allowing for timely and effective treatment. Investing in prevention means not only protecting individual health, but also fostering greater collective awareness, starting with younger generations.
With this participation, Commissione Difesa Vista ETS celebrates its tenth consecutive year alongside the Race for the Cure, reaffirming its commitment to promoting vision prevention and ensuring access to free eye care services for the public.
The initiative will continue in the upcoming Race for the Cure stages: in Bologna from September 18 to 20, and in Naples from October 9 to 11, continuing to bring vision prevention initiatives to major Italian cities.
For 2026, technology partners ZEISS, ESSILOR and Frastema Ophthalmics will provide advanced equipment to support screening activities.
“Being present at the Race for the Cure means engaging directly with people and actively promoting prevention,” said Vittorio Tabacchi, President of Commissione Difesa Vista ETS. “Our goal is to make vision care increasingly accessible and to spread greater awareness, starting with younger generations.”
