Commitment to biodiversity

Commitment to biodiversity

31 January 2024

Biodiversity is becoming an increasingly important commitment not only for institutions but also for companies: at the end of January 2024, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) published an update of its biodiversity standard (GRI 101: Biodiversity 2024) to stimulate greater attention to the impact of human activity on nature.
At a time when science states that many animal and plant species are at risk of extinction, companies are being asked to assess their activities according to new indicators. Gri has been working with several organisations, including the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (Tnfd), Efrag, the Science Based Targets Network (Sbtn) and the new standard will formally come into force in January 2026.
