Best Store Award

The award for the DESIGN category of the Best Store, is assigned to Zien & Horen Frits van den Bosch by Thomas Van Den Bosch (Wommelgem, Belgium), a former industrial building converted into a shop-in-shop, which was awarded for its innovative décor and unique customer focus. With its 900 m², it is the largest optical store in Belgium: it includes boutiques dedicated to major brands, a café, children's spaces, ophthalmology and audiology services, and a pop-up area that changes theme every year.

The DESIGN category of the Best Store Award goes to AndréOpticas Chiado by André Leal (Lisbon, Portugal), recognised for its distinctive concept inspired by the atmosphere of a historic luxury train carriage, reinterpreted in a contemporary key. A linear and intimate layout guides visitors through a calm, immersive journey, enhanced by warm woods, brass accents, soft textures and carefully controlled lighting. Compartment-like display areas reveal a curated selection of independent eyewear brands alongside vintage frames and rare collectible pieces, creating a refined experience defined by discretion, discovery and timeless elegance.

The Best Store INNOVATION Award is presented to Optocentro by Rui Motty (Lisbon, Portugal), selected for its “Flight to 2050” vision and its forward-thinking model of optical retail, where technology, sustainability and clinical excellence converge. The store stands out for integrating circular economy principles into both its space design and daily operations, combining eco-efficient solutions with advanced processes that improve workflow, traceability and customer experience. With a strong focus on accessibility, prevention and education, Optocentro offers an innovative and human-centred approach that sets a new benchmark for the optical industry.

The Best Store INNOVATION category awards Ottica Padrin by Fabrizio Padrin (Vicenza, Italy) thanks to its use of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, customer focus with inclusive and personalized spaces, and a strong commitment to social and environmental sustainability. The store’s strong points are innovative scientific research, ongoing staff training, and a work environment that values employee well-being. This comprehensive and modern approach makes it a benchmark in the optical industry.

In 2025, Best Store celebrated its 10th anniversary, honoring excellence in optical retail worldwide. To mark this special milestone, MIDO virtually brought together all the past winners to share and celebrate the occasion.
