According to the manufacturer, one of its standout features is the Deep Step Bevel function, which allows processing up to 20mm in depth. This enables accurate edging of challenging designs such as high-curve goggles, sports sunglasses, and even lens-over-frame sunglasses—previously difficult to process with conventional machines. 
Equipped with a newly designed extra-large clamp and Xtra Large block adapter, it securely holds a wide range of lenses—including specialty and coated lenses— ensuring, says the company, precise, distortion-free processing without any axis misalignment.
The HPE-990 features a wheel motor that is 1.7 times more powerful and 1.5 times faster than its predecessor, the HPE-910, enabling rapid processing of various materials. Additionally, with the Scan&Cut shape data editor and retouching functions, operators can achieve precise finishing work, enhancing user convenience and the overall quality of the processed lenses.
When the system launched in 2025, a representative from Huvitz stated, “Eyewear is no longer just about function; customization to suit individual style is now a global trend.” They added, “We expect the HPE-990, as a premium lens edger that delivers results satisfying both consumers and opticians, to receive a strong response in international markets.”
