Charmant: pure titanium on show at Mido
The Charmant Group has always been very concerned with research and innovation. All its products undergo rigorous tests in order to meet its clients' demands for quality and safety. The products must respond to certain physical requirements and to this end they undergo tests such as stretch resistance, hinge life, bridge deformation, hinge torsion, dimensional stability at high temperatures, and solder resistance tests.
Chemical and physical tests are also carried out and these reproduce factors such as perspiration, sunlight, UV rays, alcohol resistance and the risk of allergies from new materials.
The Charmant Group uses leading-edge ergonomic design for all its eyewear components and continuously checks its products for comfort criteria; using an innovative computerized graphics technique, Charmant engineers analyze and measure samples of various human skull shapes; to test the frame pressure and to check slip and agreeable contact, artificial skin is applied to models of heads.
The Charmant Group exclusively uses pure titanium and beta-titanium. Amongst its many other qualities, this material is, first and foremost, very light (up to 48% lighter than other materials used for the production of eyewear), it does not cause nickel allergies, it is stainless and therefore resistant to salt water, perspiration and humidity.
The history of titanium is covered at the Charmant stand (Pav. 15/I - Stand C11-22) at upcoming Mido (May 7, 8 and 9) in a photograph gallery, with illustrations of the characteristics of titanium and the various processing stages from the natural stone, which is reduced to rudimentary wire and then folded wire, and on to the soldering, finishing and polishing of the frame.
