Wco recommends Transitions Healthy Sight Counseling Education Program

As part of its commitment to advocate the highest standards for international optometric education, the World Council of Optometry (Wco) has announced that it will recommend Transitions' Partners In Education Healthy Sight Counseling education program to be incorporated into optometry school curricula.

The Healthy Sight Counseling curriculum introduces an integrated approach to healthy sight that promotes customized vision correction, maintenance and preventive eyecare, and increased professional and patient awareness of eye health through education.

The announcement was made at a joint press event held today during the Mido at the Milan Fair Grounds. 'The global practice and profession of optometry is constantly evolving, so quality education is of ever-greater importance to prepare the next generation of optometrists', said Vic Connors, OD, president, Wco, in announcing the Wco's recommendation with Bette Zaret, vice president, global strategic marketing, Transitions Optical, Inc. and Denis Fisk, director of clinical education, Transitions Optical, Inc. 'Healthy Sight Counseling curriculum presents a comprehensive practice methodology for optometry students, offering them a model for every patient encounter that will help them provide a lifetime of healthy sight of their patients'.

'Transitions is so proud to receive this recognition and recommendation from the World Council of Optometry,' said Fisk. 'We are committed to being a true 'partner in education' with optometry worldwide to advance the cause of healthy sight'.
