Vision Business Forum
The second edition of Vision Business Forum, scheduled to take place in Rome in June from Friday 18 through Monday 21, is announced as not just an exhibition-conference, but a genuine agora of the entire world of vision, from various professionals to companies.
In September 2009, the first edition of this event, which is prompted by Assogruppi Ottica with the collaboration of Anfao and Mido, the participation of Federottica and organization by Fabianogroup, was already an important occasion for the entire segment. Now enriched with new partnerships, it is an essential benchmark for the sector as a whole.
Joining Assogruppi Ottica, Anfao, Mido and Federottica is an array of important and prestigious associations that represent the reference world:
-AILAC, the Italian academy of contact lenses, a non-profit scientific association set up to promote the development of contact lenses and provide information about them for the public and professionals.
-ESA, the European Sunglasses Association, was founded in 1994 by several companies in the sector to meet a latent demand for a European association that would unite the interests shared by various operators on the European market.
-Low Vision Academy, an institution that for years has worked on the problems of low vision.
-SICoM, Società Italiana di Contattologia Medica, a non-profit, non-political and non-denominational scientific association. SICoM is an affiliate of the Italian Ophthalmology Society and the European Contact Lens Society of Ophthalmologists (ECLSO). SICoM was created to promote research in the field of contactology, to foster cultural and scientific exchange between ophthalmologists on the subject of ocular surfaces and the relationship with contact lenses, to coordinate clinical and research collaboration and cultural exchange with European and non-European scientific organizations.
The organization of the different days of the event is still to be defined, as are the details of the satellite events devoted to individual partners. Saturday, June 19, the conference will focus on contactology, Friday, 18, and Saturday 19, on low vision, and Monday, 21, on the ESA Yearly Conference. With plenary meetings, the central day of Vision Business Forum is on Sunday, June 20, whereas Monday, June 21, will be devoted to courses and in-depth analyses. Consequently, the exhibition area will be open from Friday, June 18, through Sunday, June 20.
The themes of the agenda on Sunday, a crucial day for the event, will concern important and institutional subjects to be shared by all professionals. Discussions will be held on counterfeiting and protection from UV rays, as well as prevention, driving with appropriate vision correction and the importance of eye checks for preschool children.
Vision Business Forum is engaged in involving such institutions as the Ministry of Health as well as opinion leaders and internationally-famous speakers who will talk about these important matters. The aim is to provide a packed audience of professionals and operators with all the necessary information and not to forget the business side that is a characteristic of the event.
An essential and extremely important addition to the new edition of Vision Business Forum is the free invitation to all Italian optometrists to take part in the work. The only possible expense will be 35 euros for CME accreditation. Also invited are all the operators of the sector, the various vision professionals and ophthalmologists.
