CDV at MIDO 2026: Prevention Culture and Protection of Visual Health
The presence of Commissione Difesa Vista ETS at MIDO 2026 represents an important opportunity to enhance the role and activities of the Association within the sector, strengthening dialogue with companies, institutions, and vision professionals, and promoting a culture increasingly focused on prevention and eye health protection.
Within this framework, the meeting “Pediatric Vision Care – Scientific Evidence, Best Practices, and Integrated Models for Managing Vision in Developmental Age”, promoted by CDV and FGE Fabiano Gruppo Editoriale, placed pediatric visual health at the center. Today, this is a crucial and cross-cutting topic, ranging from the increase in myopia to late diagnosis of visual defects, as well as the management of strabismus, binocular vision disorders, and the impact of new digital lifestyles on children.
The format combined scientific analysis and practical application, with an initial institutional session dedicated to the current scenario and collaboration among professionals, followed by a discussion on best practices into concrete and replicable pathways in daily clinical and professional approach. Moderated by Simone Lijoi, the meeting featured contributions from Paolo Nucci (President of SIOPS), Rino Agostiniani (President of the Italian Society of Pediatrics), and Andrea Afragoli (President of Federottica).
The second session, focused on real-world experiences, involved Aldo Vagge, ophthalmologist; Anna Lucia Lauria, Orthoptics professor, Ophthalmology assistant, and member of Commissione Difesa Vista; Pilar Nannini, pediatrician; and Stefano Bernabei, optician at Optikid, who shared concrete examples and tools related to prevention, continuity of care, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
A shared message clearly emerged from the discussion: today, managing vision in developmental age requires increased collaboration models among pediatricians, ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and opticians, with the active involvement of families and a myopia-prevention-oriented approach. The role of early vision screenings and territorial prevention initiatives, such as those promoted by Occhi dei Bimbi and Commissione Difesa Vista itself, was also highlighted as central.
CDV also presented a new awareness project at MIDO 2026: the Multisense Visual Arena, set up in Pavilion 1, Stand F23 – Fashion District. An experiential and multisensory area designed to communicate the value of sight through immersive scenarios reproducing everyday life situations, making immediately perceptible how crucial efficient vision is for quality of life and overall well-being.
The Multisense Visual Arena is conceived as a space for outreach and education, capable of engaging visitors and professionals in a direct and conscious experience focused on visual health. Thanks to the combination of technology, immersive environments, and a multisensory approach, the project fosters greater awareness of the importance of prevention and promotes a shared culture that values collaboration among specialists, families, and communities.
