Eyewear at Cannes 2025: The Most Iconic Looks Seen on the Red Carpet

Eyewear at Cannes 2025: The Most Iconic Looks Seen on the Red Carpet

At the Cannes Film Festival, accessories reflect the season’s strongest trends: from oversized frames to experimental shapes and precious details, eyewear proves once again to be a true style ally.

At the 2025 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, the red carpet and Croisette arrivals provided the perfect runway to spot the latest eyewear trends up close. Sunglasses—and in some cases, optical glasses—emerged as essential elements in shaping bold, personal looks.

Among the most photographed faces was Andie MacDowell, who wore the Elsa model by Max Mara Eyewear, featuring a geometric silhouette with large angular lenses set in a refined metal frame. The same design was also worn by brand ambassador Paz Vega, seen in a new colorway. Carla Bruni also opted for Max Mara, choosing the MM0133 model, perfectly matching her eyewear to her outfit in a full look by the maison.

Hayley Atwell, star of the latest Mission Impossible installment, favored a variant of the Anne shape, while Oakley provided the eye protection for Tom Cruise in the film’s most extreme scene: a 2,400-meter freefall at speeds exceeding 225 km/h.

Izabel Goulart chose Alaïa: bold, thick, wrap-around frames with a striking aesthetic. Balenciaga designs were also widely present, selected by Alexa Chung, Charlotte Le Bon, Irina Shayk, Isabelle Huppert, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley—all featuring sharp, minimal designs with strong graphic proportions.

Benicio Del Toro and Julianne Moore wore Bottega Veneta, choosing glasses with clean lines and visibly textured craftsmanship, in keeping with the brand’s understated yet refined style.

Gucci was seen on Dakota Johnson, while Saint Laurent outfitted actresses like Halle Berry, Ines Rau, and Mariska Hargitay, all of whom brought a more rock-inspired and sensual flair to the Croisette.

French actor Raphaël Personnaz opted for the Columba model by luxury eyewear house Akoni, inspired by California’s West Coast style. Italian actor Pierfrancesco Favino walked the red carpet in a pair of Persol sunglasses from the Steve McQueen 2025 collection.

Overall, once again, eyewear proved to be far more than a functional accessory: at Cannes 2025, it becomes a statement of style, a reflection of brand identity, and an integral part of the aesthetic storytelling of celebrities.
