MEI – a leading company in the planning and produciton of hi-tech machines for the optical industry – was founded in 1985 by Stefano Sonzogni and Raffaele Scudeletti.
“Today, MEI has 331 employees spread all over the world, throughout 6 branches – Italy, the USA, Brazil, Asia, India and Japan - and in the 4 Customer Service offices in Texas, California, Colombia and the United Kingdom,” stated Stefano Sonzogni, Chair of MEI.
The geographic proximity to customers contributes to an extremely high quality of post-sales service, thanks to over 100 employees working in customer service roles. “For us, customer relations and support are essential factors and represent a key aspect of our work”, Sonzogni continued.
This characteristic, added to the significant growth of the company over the last few years (with 60 new employees taken on between 2022 and early 2023), has seen the workforce increase from 270 to 331 employees.
Important research and development activity over the years has allowed MEI to become a leading company in the global industry, with a significant increase in turnover and the number of machines sold.
Expansion work will soon begin at the premises in Ponte San Pietro, doubling the site size from its current 10,000 m2 to 20,000 m2. Furthermore, establishment of a new branch is underway in the United States, to satisfy the needs of a team of over 70 members.
