Setting the Gold Standard!

Setting the Gold Standard!

MIDO 2026 has officially opened its doors, and for three days Fieramilano once again becomes the operational hub of the global eyewear industry.

This is where the supply chain truly comes together—not only to present new collections and innovations, but to do business, strengthen strategic relationships, open new markets, and turn contacts into real opportunities. Visitors arrive with full agendas and leave with something even more valuable: meetings, new partnerships, market insights, and a clearer vision of the directions that will shape the industry in the months ahead.

MIDO is where supply meets demand, creativity meets performance, and brands meet distribution. It is an ecosystem that accelerates choices and decisions, because everything happens live and in real time: trends are analysed, materials and solutions are compared, and signals from international markets are interpreted. In a complex and constantly evolving landscape, MIDO becomes the space where the industry regains momentum, concreteness, and perspective—raising the bar for excellence.

This morning, in Fashion Square (Hall 1), the official opening ceremony of the show took place, bringing together key institutions and leading figures from the business world, reaffirming MIDO’s value as a strategic hub for the Italian industrial system and for the international positioning of the entire eyewear sector. On stage were the President of MIDO and ANFAO, Lorraine Berton, alongside the Italian Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso; the President of Confindustria, Emanuele Orsini; the President of the Milan City Council, Elena Buscemi; and the President of Fondazione Fiera Milano, Giovanni Bozzetti.

Another key moment of the day was the inauguration of the Casa del Made in Italy: an institutional hub for connection, a space dedicated to companies, investors, international buyers and the chamber system, with the aim of promoting projects, fostering new development opportunities, and providing concrete tools to support growth and internationalisation. A debut that is both symbolic and operational, strengthening MIDO’s role as a strategic platform serving Italian companies and production chains.

“MIDO is exactly this: a special energy you feel the moment you walk in. It is the heart of global eyewear, a place where exhibitors from over 50 countries meet visitors from more than 160 nations. In three days, the entire supply chain takes shape: innovations are presented, relationships are built, and the future is imagined. But MIDO is not just a trade show—it is an experience, it is ‘Eyewearland’. Those who live it know it well. It is the point where business and fashion interact, where technology and creativity come together, and where that shared spark becomes a driving force for the entire sector.

Every year we raise the bar to anticipate change and look ahead. Today MIDO brings together around 1,200 exhibitors, 140 new companies, 8 exhibition areas and 7 halls, welcoming over 40,000 visitors. These figures confirm the strength of Italian eyewear, a sector generating more than €5.6 billion, involving around 800 companies and over 22,500 professionals. This value is further reinforced by the international incoming programme, which welcomed more than 250 delegates from 54 countries, confirming MIDO as the global gold standard of eyewear,” said Lorraine Berton.

Highlighting the strategic value of an Italian system capable of working together around its production chains, Minister Adolfo Urso underlined the role of the exhibition as an international showcase for Made in Italy and a concrete platform supporting businesses.
