Strong attendance for the "Eyevolution" event in Bari
Over 100 participants gathered in Bari for Eyevolution, the event promoted by the Gruppo Lenti ANFAO to foster dialogue among vision care professionals.
The second stop of Eyevolution – New Connections for Visual Wellbeing took place on June 4th in Bari. This series of local meetings, promoted by the Gruppo Lenti ANFAO, is dedicated to in-depth discussions and collaboration between healthcare professionals and vision specialists.
Following a successful launch in Padua, the Bari event drew significant interest, with over 100 ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and optometrists in attendance — confirming the relevance of the topics addressed and the growing need for open, ongoing dialogue among the various professionals involved in vision care.
"The success of these meetings reflects the strong need for opportunities that bring together the different figures working in the field of vision," said Massimo Barberis, President of Gruppo Lenti ANFAO and ANFAO Vice President for the domestic market and relations with retailers and medical professionals. "Eyevolution offers a valuable platform for dialogue, enhancing skills and fostering greater integration among professionals, all in the interest of citizens' visual health."
One of the project’s distinctive strengths—besides the collaboration among major companies in the ophthalmic industry under the Gruppo Lenti ANFAO (Carl Zeiss, Dai Optical, Filab, Hoya, Itallenti, Optodinamica, Optovista, Rodenstock, Seiko)—is its itinerant nature. By bringing the events directly to different regions, Eyevolution promotes direct and meaningful connections at the local level, where ophthalmologists, orthoptists, and optical centers work daily.
The evening, hosted by Massimo Barberis, featured contributions from Teresio Avitabile (Full Professor, Head of Ophthalmology Clinic, University of Catania, and President of SISO), Giovanni Alessio (Full Professor of Ophthalmology, University of Bari "Aldo Moro", and Director of the Ophthalmology Unit, Bari University Hospital), and Michele Schirone (President of Federottica Bari BAT and Vice President of Federottica). Scientific insights and updates on optical and ophthalmological solutions were provided by Francesco D’Oria (Bari University Hospital), Giancarlo Montani (Department of Mathematics and Physics, University of Salento), Massimiliano Serafino (Head of Pediatric Ophthalmology, IRCCS G. Gaslini Institute, Genoa), and Ugo Procoli (Bari University Hospital).
At the end of the evening, attendees enjoyed an immersive show at the Bari Planetarium: a spectacular journey through stars and galaxies, where the view of the sky was made possible and amplified thanks to the telescope—an instrument that, like ophthalmic technologies, enhances human visual capabilities.
The Eyevolution initiative by the Gruppo Lenti ANFAO will continue in the coming months in other Italian cities, promoting training, information, and professional development for all operators in the vision care sector.
The next event will be held in Naples on October 22nd.
