MEI offers a tailor-made service ensuring highest degree of lens customization

Italian machinery company MEI is making it possible to achieve increasingly high levels of personalization in ophthalmic lenses, thanks to the company’s ongoing research and innovation activities.

Their new Smart Facets feature allows a polished decorative element for rimless ophthalmic lenses, which can be present on both the front and back of the lens, similar to a large, inclined bevel. Smart Facets represents the fastest and most reliable solution on the market, eliminating the risk of asymmetry between the right and left lenses.
Thanks to the intuitive EyeGOAL interface of the EasyFit Trend machine – the innovative block less lens edger with dry cut high precision milling technology – and the new configuration of the tools, it is possible to fully customize the lenses on both the front and back, with variable dimensions and inclinations, including polishing. Additionally, the processing is directly integrated into the lens edging cycle.
The Smart Facets feature is also available as an upgrade for EasyFit Trend MAX, allowing opticians and laboratories to meet all customer requests while maintaining maximum productivity.
In addition, as the latest innovation to be unveiled at MIDO 2026, Smart Facets will also be available on BispheraTBA Phoenix, MEI’s edger perfect for any kind of small and big labs, combining excellent throughput, maximum flexibility, and best-in-class quality control capability, the company states.
