Alain Afflelou Buys out Carrefour Optics Stores in France and Spain

Alain Afflelou yesterday confirmed the news that his group has acquired the Carrefour Optics stores in France and Spain. A company communication said 'the Carrefour Group, Alain Afflelou and Apax Partners have signed an agreement for Carrefour's transfer of its optics business in France and Spain. The agreements cover 68 outlets in France and 68 in Spain. The overall turnover is 56 and 20 million euros, respectively, for a total of 76 million'.

The communication also explained that 'this operation will allow Alain Afflelou to continue to develop by transforming the majority of the stores acquired into franchised outlets under his own sign and under a second, new sign at the launch stage'.
