Special glasses for dogs: German success spreads to UK

Confident after its success at home, a German company is now preparing to take over the British market with its special sunglasses for dogs.

La Dog-Goes became immensely popular at the beginning of the year when it distributed products that were initially made to protect the sight of rescue dogs that had to cope with snowstorms or the dangerous glare of the sun. But when a television channel broadcast a program about this eye protection to canine clubs in Gastein, the company was swamped with requests from the general public who wanted the glasses for their own dogs. This led to the idea. And now Dog-Goes products have become a cult accessory for 'dog fashion victims'.

The Dog-Goes glasses have an elastic band and lenses (including mirror lenses) that come in different shapes so they can be adapted to fit any size of dog muzzle. Currently, prices range from 40 to 60 pounds sterling. Silvia Wilsch Herold, manager of the company, stated: 'We have also had hundreds of requests for a model with gold-colored frames which we produced especially for Yorkshire Terriers'.
