Young Americans love cosmetic lenses
In the United States, an increasing number of young people are wearing cosmetic contact lenses with fancy designs and colors: from the stars and stripes of the American flag to the 'cat's eye' effect, or the latest arrivals with the colors and symbols of the Nfl (National Football League) teams.
However, this new fashion is worrying American oculists: the lenses are inserted and removed without taking the proper precautions, they are worn for too many hours at a time (perhaps even during the night) and they are shared as if they were an item of clothing or a fashion accessory.
The spread of cosmetic lenses in the US is also due to the fact that they can be easily obtained on the Internet and from stores or service stations at prices ranging from 40 to 100 dollars, compared to the 200 requested for prescription lenses.
