500-dollar reward for anyone who reports movie piracy

A 'reward' of 500 dollars has been offered by American movie industries for reporting people who record movies in theaters using micro film cameras.

The reward has been offered by the Motion Picture Association of America (Mpaa) to people working in American movie theaters: staff can report to the police the 'pirates' who record movies directly from the big screen. The other anti-piracy measures include providing people who work in the theaters with special glasses that will let them see in the dark if anyone in the audience is recording movies.

According to the Association's data, 52 million dvds and other illegal support materials were in circulation in 2003, and many of them were recordings made during the first screenings of the movies. Hollywood studios have already made arrangements for moviegoers to be searched and for the use of metal detectors.
