Barberini: new super-light polarized lenses

As well as representing a sought-after fashion accessory which characterizes a way of being and living, nowadays quality sunglasses must also meet quality, protection and functional regulations.

Starting from these considerations, Barberini has increasingly dedicated resources to the search for new technological goals and to the extension of production resources. New facilities, new machinery and new products in line with the demands of the international market.

They started last year with the design of a super-light polarized lens, only 1.8 mm, called simply Plz 1.8. A genuine technological jewel that combines the lightness of only 1.8 mm in thickness with the purity of a polarized sun lens in peak-performance optical glass.

A lens that is so light requires in-depth studies into industrialization if it is to be produced in unlimited numbers. But also into optimizing the grinding processes, chemical tempering and shaping that will enhance the unique characteristics of the glass even further in terms of transparency, hardness, purity.

The decision to produce a super-light polarized lens was dictated by data from Barberini's in-house observatory, which has seen the production of polarized lenses triple over the last three years, taking it to 80% of the total.

An important launch campaign will be dedicated to the new Plz 1.8 from Barberini and it will culminate during Mido (Pavilion 15, Hall II, Stand B42) in the most authoritative daily press and as posters around the exhibition.
