Belstaff eyewear on the way
The British group, James Halstead, has sold Belstaff to Clothing Company, since 1996 the holder of the brand license for the European and Japanese markets.
With the conclusion of the operation, a development program has started which will see the international strengthening of the brand on the one hand, and the enlargement of its product offer on the other.
This summer eyewear will be launched and, starting next winter, it will be followed by a line of cosmetics. At first the eyewear line will be sold only in clothing stores, but starting next year it will also be retailed in specialist stores. The line of cosmetics is due to be launched in winter this year.
The acquisition not only covers the activities linked with the brand, but also the foreign subsidiaries. Clothing Company also aims to reinforce the brand's presence, especially in Spain, Germany and the UK, including by way of distribution which has 1,200 multibrand outlets throughout the world. A retail project is already being studied which provides for the opening of the first monobrand stores in London and Milan in 2005.
