Carrera's Olympic successes

The athletes sponsored by Carrera, the brand that's guaranteed by Safilo Group experience, have made a triumphant return from the Olympics in Athens with the satisfaction of having achieved some important results.

Padua-born Rossano Galtarossa won a bronze medal in the rowing event with Alessio Sartori: this was Rossano's fourth Olympics and the second time on the podium after Spain 12 years ago. It was the crowning point of a marvelous career and, after the next appointment at the Italian championships at Piediluco, he'll be taking a well-earned break.

Antonio Rossi with Beniamino Bonomi won the silver medal in canoeing (K2 1000), and after the gold in Sydney the pair have reconfirmed their excellent teamwork. Antonio and Beniamino celebrated the medal by diving into the water, but when his partner pushed him under, Antonio lost the Carrera glasses (model C8) he was wearing when they won.

A bronze medal also for Laser class sailing by the Slav Vassilji Zbogar, famous at home as the star of numerous TV commercials.

In mountain biking, the predictions made on the eve of the event came true and French champion Julien Absalon, leader of the 'Bianchi Agos' team, won the silver medal in the cross country competition on a technical and dangerous dirt road on Mount Parnitha, about twenty kilometers from the center of Athens. After 28 km Absalon went in to winning mode on an uphill section during the fourth of the seven circuits.
