Court recognizes Fedon patent
After a long legal battle, the eyewear case 'Orion', produced since 1990 by Giorgio Fedon & Figli SpA, the leading company in the sector for the production of eyewear cases, was recognized as being original by the Belluno Court in its ruling published 11/27/03 which stated that the company has the exclusive right to produce and market the case with its characteristic, and highly successful, 'elongated, flat soap' shape.
The Court in fact declared that activities by competing companies were illegal and therefore prohibited them from continuing to produce, market and sell the cases involved in the lawsuit, ordered them to withdraw and destroy the cases already on the market, and gave instructions for the publication of the ruling in national newspapers and specialist magazines. These same companies were also ordered to reimburse Fedon its legal costs.
The ruling represents an additional stimulus for Fedon to continue to patent new models in Italy and abroad.
