Exalt Cycle Race and the Caracchi stable triumphant in Australia

Garry McCoy achieved a superb victory in Race-2 on his home circuit on Phillip Island, after a thrilling battle against fellow countryman, Steve Martin, to the great excitement of the 50,000 spectators at the Australian circuit.

In Race-1, the Xerox Ducati 999RS Nortel Networks of the Caracchi Stable, sponsored by Exalt Cycle Race (VidiVici), recorded the highest speed ever achieved in a Superbike World Championship race: 314.3 km/h under the electric-eye at the end of the Phillip Island straight.

McCoy was also the day's fastest round the track in Race-2. After the press conference at the end of the race, a smiling Garry McCoy went through the ritual of shaving off his beard, as promised on the eve of the race.
