France: 100 thousand counterfeit glasses impounded
On July 5 customs officials of the Val-de-Marne Department in the Ile de Paris region, impounded over 100 thousand pairs of fake Chanel glasses, with an estimated value in excess of 20 million euros.
The announcement was made by the France's Ministry of Finance and Trade. The goods were impounded following a previous customs check carried out at the Sucy-en-Brie market, 17 km southeast of Paris, during which various illegal street vendors were fined.
Information received by customs officials during checks led to two wholesalers at Auberviliers in the Seine-Saint-Denis Department, northeast of Paris.
The counterfeit eyewear was discovered at the wholesalers' sales offices and two warehouses.
