Glasses for the absentminded
German researchers have developed a prototype of a pair of glasses 'that remember', and they maintain that they can help people affected by memory lapses. The prototype consists of a helmet with two film cameras which record images of objects and build up a memory of the things seen by the person wearing it, explained Christian Bauckhage, the project's technical coordinator.
Developed by the University of Bielefeld, the device learns to recognize objects and could therefore help people to find keys or to remember street directions.
'We are trying to recreate human faculties, such as seeing and hearing, in order to produce an entire intellectual system' Bauckhage said.
