I-style: upturn for exports to Usa in first quarter
According to the figures from Ice (based on data from the Us Department of Commerce), exports of I-Style, home/furnishings and fashion grew by about 6 percentage points compared to the same period 2003.
In April the trend of the first three months seems to confirm a good recovery in demand by the American domestic market, despite the continued weakness of the dollar against the European currency.
In detail, the most dynamic segments seem to have been household linens (+21%) and lighting (+10%) in the home/furnishings sector, and cosmetics (+33%), yarns and fabrics (+16%) and eyewear (+11%) in the fashion sector.
A negative trend still persists for jewelry and furs, although it has diminished slightly compared to the January-March period.
Eyewear growth of 11 percentage points compared to the same period last year brings Italy's share of the American market to around 30%, five percentage points more than the same period two years ago.
