Marcolin: maximum strictness in the fight against counterfeiting

After numerous checks and the subsequent confiscation of counterfeit eyewear that took place recently at the Fiera Milano pavilions during Mido on Sunday, May 9, to prevent the occurrence of other suspect episodes, Marcolin, through the Mido 'Trademark and Patent Protection' desk directed by attorney Daniela Mainini, urged the Financial Police to intervene immediately so that strict and precise checks could be carried out.

Counterfeit eyewear was discovered during the checks, including some models with the Dolce&Gabbana label for which Marcolin is the licensee for worldwide production and distribution. The authorities intervened and impounded the goods.

The company has taken a strong stance to safeguard its own production and to guarantee consumers the authenticity and value of original eyewear: 'We must protect our own products and those under license against all types of counterfeiting and defend our own and the licensors' creative and production commitment to create original and differentiated collections. In addition to this, the actions taken by individual producers must be given the full support of a decisive role by the institutions, with clear regulations and specific penalties', commented Cirillo Marcolin in his capacity as Managing Director of the Group.

On the international circuit, in 1995 Mido was the first exhibition in the eyewear sector to introduce a service for protecting trademarks and patents as it is fully aware that this is an ever-increasing requirement, especially for eyewear with strong appeal in terms of fashion, as are Italian products.

Pursuant to the Regulations, companies which have received a warning cannot take part in future editions of Mido.
