Mido 2004 gets underway
Today, Friday, May 7, the President of the Lombardy Region, Roberto Formigoni, inaugurated the 34th edition of Mido, the world's most important International Exhibition for operators in the eyewear sector, which will continue through May 9.
Over the years, Mido has acquired increasing prestige which has brought not just renown, but opportunities to the city of Milan and has contributed to its success as the Made in Italy capital.
President Formigoni's presence is an acknowledgement of a fair, which, of all the exhibitions in Milan, boasts the highest number of operators from abroad. In fact out of 1,200 exhibitors, over 800 come from abroad, 60% of the total.
Approximately half the number of sector operators (international buyers, opticians, vision specialists, specialist journalists, producers and distributors) come from countries where the quality of Italian products has acquired enduring market leadership, despite the unfavorable international economic situation.
Strengthening Mido's importance as a stimulating proposal for all production cycles that revolve around eyewear, Mido Education, a series of training meetings qualifying the optical profession, and Mido Sport, a special section presenting all the new ideas in specialist eyewear for all sports, are this year's new additions which reinforce the trend to continue to increase its supremacy at world level.
