Mido in front line against counterfeiting
Attorney Daniela Mainini, head of Mido's Protection and Patents Desk, and attorney Salvatore Di Salvatore, legal representative for stylist Alain Mikli, are working together to ensure that the intellectual property and protection of all stylists and designers exhibiting at Mido are guaranteed; in this specific case, during his visit to the Fair the French stylist saw copies of his creations on display.
The companies responsible are mainly Chinese (2 Dutch, 2 Chinese and 2 Italian distributors for Chinese companies) have already been warned by Mido and they cannot take part in the future editions of the international fair.
The regulations for the Fair in fact state that 'in the event of proven counterfeiting, the exhibitors shall be invited or warned to remove the products from their stands at the request of Mido management, which reserves the right to evaluate the possibility of excluding the creators of the counterfeits or their intermediaries from future exhibitions.'
On the international circuit, in 1995 Mido was the first exhibition in the eyewear industry to introduce a service for protecting trademarks and patents as it is fully aware that this is an ever-increasing requirement, especially for eyewear with strong appeal in terms of fashion.
