Ocular Sciences: increased billings for Biomedics Toric

In the monthly toric lens segment, Biomedics Toric from Ocular Sciences recorded a continuous increase in sales in 2003. The fast and constant growth was strengthened in the first quarter of 2004.

Launched in Europe less than 2 years ago, they already have a market share that is close to the 15% of the United States market, where lenses have been available for almost 3 years now.

In the first three months of 2004 billings for toric lenses increased by 70%, almost double the growth of the respective market: they currently represent over 10% of Ocular Sciences' global billings.

'The demand for contact lenses is constantly increasing and our products, especially in the toric and daily segments, are extremely successful', stated John Fruth, chairman of the Ocular Sciences' Board of Directors.

The horizontal isothickness, the wide stabilization prism and the perfectly smooth top surface, allow the Biomedics Toric lenses to be precisely positioned on the eye. Application times are much shorter, but at the same time they guarantee superior comfort, excellent stability and improved centering. All this translates into excellent and constant vision quality.

Monthly replacement Biomedics Toric lenses have widened their range to give an even larger number of people with astigmatism the chance to enjoy the lenses' performance. The -2.25 cylinder will be available soon and it will be combined with a new range of spherical strengths from +6.00D to -9.00D.
