Specsavers to expand in Sweden

British optical chain Specsavers Opticians will acquire Swedish optical retailer Blic (34 stores in Sweden, 30 of them franchises) in a deal valued at 3.3 million British pounds.

Specsavers, with 560 locations in the U.K., Ireland, and the Netherlands, expects to double the number of Blic stores to more than 70 within three to five years.

Specsavers also plan to boost the chain's market share in Holland, where the group is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, with the launch of 10 new stores.
