Agreement between Sover and Mariella Burani

Agreement between Sover and Mariella Burani

Sover has signed an important agreement for the production and distribution of glasses with the Mariella Burani label. This important Italian clothing and accessories group is based in Reggio Emilia and has overall billings of around 400 million euros.

Specifically, Sover will design new eyewear models which will be presented next September. Initially, the line will include sunglasses and will then be enlarged to include new ophthalmic frames. The agreement signed between Sover and Mariella Burani will have a duration of five years with an estimate billings of about 4 million euros.

The new Mariella Burani eyewear line will be distributed through the widespread national network of outlets served by Sover and in over 70 foreign markets. The same commercial coverage can be guaranteed in Eastern European countries, thanks to Sover's four joint-ventures that also include outlets.

'We are very pleased about this collaboration with Mariella Burani', Sover Chairman Paolo Cannicci stated, 'and we hope that these new products will receive due attention by consumers. Thanks to the careful selection of partners and research into product quality and design, the Sover Group is going against the current of national eyewear producers as it closed financial year 2004 with 18 million euros and 28% growth'.

Set up in 1962, Sover produces a line under its own name, as well as glasses for the leatherwear fashion designer Alviero Martini and Lotto, a company known throughout the sports and leisure worlds. Currently, Sover produces frames in plastic, metal and mixes. It has a production capacity of over 2 thousand items per day, which continues to increase thanks to the continuous upgrading of the plant and the application of new technologies. The Soverzene facility in the province of Belluno has a covered area of 3,200 square meters and around 60 employees. The Sover Group is composed of a production unit in Italy, four commercial joint-ventures in Eastern Europe and a total of 200 employees.
