Barberini's Plz1.8 lenses 'fly' with Riccardo Brigliadori

Launched during Mido 2004, Plz1.8 lens, the 'flagship' from Barberini, will be tested in a demanding sport like gliding which needs vision tools with unerring performance.

It is in fact Riccardo Brigliadori, champion glider and one of the most important pilots in the Italian national team, who will be the protagonist of Barberini's May campaign in the main trade magazines and the best-known current affairs publications, in addition to the important events around Fiera Milano during Mido (May 6-9).

Gliding is an exciting and selective sport and a perfect knowledge of the sky and its atmospheric conditions is essential for picking up the invisible signs of the air currents necessary to fly the vehicle. Pilots must be able to interpret these signs very quickly because a successful outcome is dependent on making full use of them. Pilots use their eyes to make these decisions and they must be equipped with sunglasses with excellent and proven performance.

The intensity of the dangerous rays is greatest at high altitudes and pilots spend many hours in extreme conditions: glare from the sun, differences in altitudes, reflections from the clouds, motes and polarized light all hinder the pilot's job: this is why a neutralizing lens makes the difference when competing for a record.

As well as being super-slim, Plz1.8 are highly protective (like all Barberini's lenses in polarized glass): they block out 100% of UV rays up to 400 nm and eliminate 99.9% of reflected polarized light which is the cause of annoying glare. Performance is optimized by the ultra-new oleophobic coating and by anti-reflection and waterproof treatments. They can also be made in a large variety of fashionable colors.
