Fiorucci presents Funglasses line

Funglasses is the name of the 2005 collection of eyewear signed by Fiorucci, the brand owned by Japanese company Edwin & Co.: 18 vision models and 16 sunglasses, with colored frames featuring the brand's historical symbols.

Already launched in Asia, the new line is now on its way to Europe.

During the press conference in Milan, it has been talked about the re-launch of the Fiorucci brand by Edwin & Co., the company which bought it in 1990 and has also been handling commercial management since 2002.

Edwin & Co., which has 8 wholly-owned brands and 6 under license distributed throughout the world, is engaged in launching Fiorucci on the Asian markets and in Europe.

The operation in Asia is easier as production and distribution are handled by partner company Itochu, and 27 monobrand stores have been opened in recent years.

But in Europe, Edwin & Co. has had to recreate the group of licensees (12 in all), with major focus on marketing and considerable investments in 2005.

'After which' Masahiko Kawai, general manager of Fiorucci Design Office Italy said, 'the next step will be to re-launch the Italian brand, which has great potential for development, especially in the US markets, but always with respect for its original characteristics'.
