Luxottica aims to set up 500 stores in China in the next 5 years

With the acquisition of the 79 Xueliang Optical stores in Beijing, Luxottica now has 149 outlets in China and is already the leader of the sector. But it's just a start: the aim, chief executive Andrea Guerra told Affari e Finanza 'is to have 500 stores in the next five years'.

'This market is already worth 2 billion dollars, more or less the same as the Italian market', Guerra explained, 'with 10% concentrated in the top segment we are aiming at and which is growing by 2530% a year'.

According to Guerra, the most important market, the United States, also offers strong growth margins. 'The Americans are discovering fashion and big brands. Apart from the success of the Ray-Ban re-launch, in recent months sales for lines such as Prada and Chanel have taken off'.
