Marks & Spencer fined for misleading advertising to the detriment of Made in Italy
The Court of Birmingham in Great Britain ordered department store chain Marks & Spencer to pay a fine of almost 15 thousand euros for misleading advertising to the detriment of Made in Italy; a line of menswear called 'I Italian' is in fact made in Romania, Egypt and India.
The investigation was carried out in 2003 after a customer complained to the city's authorities.
M&S admitted the offence and apologized. However, it stated that it did not intend to mislead customers as each item of clothing showed clearly where it had been manufactured.
