Positive 2nd quarter 2005 for Fielmann
Fielmann's expectations for the second quarter of financial year 2005 have been fulfilled. In comparison to the results of the second quarter in the recession year of 2004, the company generated double digit increases in unit sales, sales and profit.
Sales of glasses rose by 27 per cent to 1.4 million pairs. Consolidated sales improved by 28 per cent to € 189.5 million compared with the same period of the previous year. Pre-tax profit rose 48 per cent to € 24.7 million, while profit after tax rose 51 per cent to € 16 million.
During the first half of 2005, Fielmann sold more than 2.8 million pairs of glasses. The company generated consolidated sales of € 358.6 million. Pre-tax profit stood at € 34.8 million and profit after tax at € 22.6 million.
Fielmann is set to open a total of 15 new branches before the end of the year, creating 300 additional jobs.
