Usa: consumer loyalty index rises

Last Friday the University of Michigan published preliminary data on the US consumer loyalty index for June.

For the first time since December last, the index has risen and stood at 94.8 against 86.9 in May.

According to Wall Street analysts, consumers feel they can spend a little more and are increasingly oriented toward foreign products. This tendency has been confirmed by the Department of Commerce data on the increased current account deficit.

There are already signs of continuous improvement in these early weeks of the summer and retail sales are at last reaching high levels.
