Vca against counterfeiting
In an effort to stop counterfeiting of optical products domestically and internationally, Vision Council of America has taken an active role in addressing this issue. 'Every dollar our members or their customers lose to a counterfeit sale is one too many. This illegal activity hurts the industry, the licensed brand owner, our members and the consumer', said Bill Thomas, Ceo and Executive Vice President of Vca. 'It is our job to fight for our members - not only in Washington but internationally as well'.
Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.R. 32, the Stop Counterfeiting in Manufactured Goods Act that would expand the definition of counterfeiting and strengthen penalties. 'In Vca's fight to prohibit counterfeiting, passage of this legislation is a solid win', said Thomas. 'This domestic legislation closes loopholes for counterfeiting and will be a model for legislation in Europe and other areas'.
In addition, Vca also continues to work with the International Anti-Counterfeiting Coalition (Iacc). As an added member service, Vca has just launched a special section to its website to keep members updated on the latest measures taken to combat this world-wide problem.
