Bausch & Lomb's Global Day of Caring

For the third year running, May 25 was the Bausch & Lomb Global Day of Caring, the international benefit event in favor of local communities.

The aim of Global Day of Caring is to involve all local company employees in solidarity activities that are carried out all over the world.

All Bausch & Lomb offices worldwide give a important contribution to supporting certain solidarity projects. In Italy, employees at Macherio were involved in setting up a lottery aimed at collecting funds in favor of the Macherio Day Center for Disabled Persons.

As in previous years, the 2006 event was also highly successful: thanks to the lottery, 5,190 euros were donated to the Center to purchase a baby grand piano, which will be used for the organization of music therapy courses for disabled young people.

Important activities were also carried out by Bausch & Lomb offices in other countries. France supported a team of doctors which went to southern Algeria to offer free eye examinations. Employees in New Delhi helped hundreds of people in Mumbai by carrying out screenings for cataract and by taking care of those who needed an operation. In the United States, employees in Miami organized various recreational activities at a center for blind children. Lastly, the office in Munich contributed to rebuilding a playground at an orphanage, where a party was organized for the children.
