Briko and Pro Cycling Team Liquigas together at Brixia Tour 2006

Franco Pellizotti and Vincenzo Nibali are the captains of the Liquigas team at the Brixia Tour from July 20 through 23 in the province of Brescia.

Both Liquigas athletes have already had one win in the 2006 season: one stage of the Tour of Italy for the 'Delfino di Bibione' and one stage of the Coppi & Bartali International Week for Nibali.

With them are Dario Cioni (due to a bureaucratic problem he could not take part in the Tour of Qinghai Lake), the former Italian champion Enrico Gasparotto, Stefano Zanini, Eros Capecchi, Roman Kreuziger and Charles Wegelius. Accompanying them is sports manager Mario Chiesa who says that «the Brixia Tour route is fairly demanding. Some of our guys have just recently returned to cycling, but I think we will leave our mark with Vincenzo Nibali, just back from a good Tour of Austria».

The Sicilian champion and Danilo Di Luca today won recognition on the World Championship route at Salzburg. The two Liquigas cyclists were part of a group of athletes accompanied by technical commissioner Franco Ballerini.

Danilo Di Luca described the World Championship route: «The route was tougher than I expected because of the altitude and the twists and bends. The road was narrow in some points and you have to concentrate all the time. I hope to do well at Salzburg and I'm relying on being called up by technical commissioner Ballerini, who knows how much I want to win. The world championship is my last important objective for the season. To be better, I've changed my preparation and I'll take part in the Vuelta».
