Charmant announced and held an award ceremony in their booth for prize-winning works (one grand prize and one semi-grand prize) won at Charmant International Design Competition for eyeglasses, on May 5th, the first day of Mido.
Prize winners from the Czech Republic and Taiwan came to the ceremony. The prize-winning works have been displayed in a special showcase during the exhibition period, with other seven selected excellent works.
Grand Prix Winner is Vadim Kibardin, born in Russia and living in the Czech Republic, with its 'Cerambyx cerdo frame'. He commented: 'This competition has been a pleasure to take part in because of its clear guidelines and I am honored by Mr. Naoto Fukasawa's recognition of my design. In my designs I strive for clarity, always keeping the product's final use in the forefront of my mind. I try to combine rich intrinsic meaning with external simplicity using modern technological solutions. My designs are based on the philosophy that man is an integral part of nature. I work to create products that solve problems, always looking to nature for inspiration'.
Semi-Grand Prize winner is Yenwen Tseng, from Taiwan, with 'Fly-fight' frame.
Mr. Maeda, Charmant's Managing Director, Group Marketing, stated: 'For us at Charmant, who is expanding worldwide, we hope to contribute to the rejuvenation of the eyeglasses industry not just through sales, but by offering new designers of eyeglasses this kind of opportunity. Based on our technical capabilities we pride ourselves on, we intend to apply the designs and ideas we received from this competition to future product development. Furthermore, we would like to look into the possibility of making this competition a regular event'.
