Face à Face exhibits at Knoll

Face à Face, Knoll International and the European Institute of Design, three major players in international design, collaborate on a research on aesthetics, innovation and function, three fundamental values for each of these brands.

Each of these three protagonists from the worlds of eyewear, contemporary furniture and design schools excels in its field. For the first time, they have chosen to combine their shared purpose and to present in Milan, a unique initiative aiming at supporting young designers.

Based on an original concept developed by Pascal Jaulent, a small group of eyewear lovers with a passion for design and architecture create the company Architectures in April 1995, and launch Face à Face eyewear. Acclaimed for their quality 'Made in France', Face à Face optical frames and sunglasses combines technology, expression and refinement to interpret the trends of industrial design and architecture.

Knoll International is a company founded at the end of 1930s, internationally renowned and leader in the field of decoration and design. Since its creation, the company has always lead an audacious editorial policy and symbolizes a timeless modernity.

The European Institute of Design has been active for forty years in Training and Research, in disciplines such as Design and Fashion, as well as Visual Arts and Communication. Today, it constitutes an international network constantly expanding, with a didactic and innovative methodology, which combines 'knowledge' and 'expertise'. The European Institute of Design has affiliates in Milan, Rome, Turin, Madrid, Barcelona and San Paolo, Brazil.

Through their collaboration within the exhibition 'Playing with Displaying', Face à Face and Knoll launch a challenge to students in their last year at the Milan European Institute of Design (EID): 'to apply the principles of design to resolve the questions of space and presentation of the frames in the shops, while bringing particular care to materials used and to respecting the image of the brand'.

The outcome of this reflection will be exhibited from May 4th to 10th in the Milan show-room of Knoll, where the creations of the Face à Face collections will be shown amongst the furniture originating from the audacious conceptual policy which has characterised the Knoll Company for nearly 80 years.
