France: campaign for wearing sunglasses when driving

In France, Asnav (Association Nationale pour l'Amélioration de la Vue) and Prévention Routière have launched a press campaign to remind drivers about some precautions for safe driving.

Specifically, the two associations insist that it is necessary to wear sunglasses when driving and they are directing consumers toward different types of lenses (protective, colored) and frames that are more suitable for driving, as a function of light intensity and the existence of ametropia.

The campaign also underscores the importance of eye tests before getting behind the wheel: according to Asnav studies, the vision acuity of 1 million drivers is lower than the standards set by the highway code.

In general, Asnav emphasizes that eyes, especially children's eyes, must be protected from UV rays and reminds people about the essential role played by opticians.
