Intercast and PPG Optical Materials protagonists at Mido
There was great interest among operators and the national and international trade press in the important news announced this year at Mido by Intercast Europe and PPG Optical Materials.
During the traditional annual press conference for the preview presentation of the Frames Revolution prototypes in Nxt by Intercast in collaboration with the Research Center of the European Institute of Design in Milan, an important announcement was made about the acquisition of the Parma company by PPG Industries.
At that time, Christine Camsuzou, General Manager of the Optic Materials Division of PPG Industries, pointed out that the acquisition of Intercast was an important progress for PPG in the non-prescription sun lens market. 'This acquisition', Camsuzou stated, 'is a development with a significant impact that reflects PPG's constant commitment to clients and its interest in the specific needs that gradually come from the market. From this point of view, technology and acquisition are key components in our growth strategy'.
The two companies boast a significant and consolidated presence on the market and 'the integration of our respective technologies, research and development, and a strong international presence will make us even stronger, from the United States to Europe, Asia, and anywhere there is a demand for quality eyewear', Intercast Europe Chief Executive Paolo Baiocchi stated in his speech.
At the end of the joint press conference, the large number of people present were invited to take part in the celebrations for the seventieth anniversary of CR-39, whose properties make it the material for ophthalmic lenses that is still a best seller throughout the world. This important event was celebrated with the launch of the CR-39 Lens Authorized Producer Program. The participants undertake to comply with the regulations regarding the use of CR-39 and to provide clients who explicitly request them with lenses produced exclusively with the CR-39 monomer.
