Jonathan Rhys Meyers interprets Versace

Jonathan Rhys Meyers will be the new testimonial of the upcoming advertising campaign Versace Uomo, fall-winter 2006-2007. Last April the portfolio of photographs was completed in a New York City studio by photographer Mario Testino.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers follows Madonna, Demi Moore and Halle Berry. Strong, sophisticated and captivating, he completely fits the contemporary nature and 'soft-mood' of Versace luxury.

Donatella Versace, creative director of the Group, declared: 'Jonathan perfectly expresses the best of this year's Versace men's collection. He has all the recognizable elements of the Versace style, such as sensuality, individuality, mystery and glamour, but at the same time, he emphasizes everything that is new in next season's Versace man. A strong and manly man who is also aware of his feelings and is not afraid to show them; a man who is more sensual than excessively sexy. I believe that Jonathan can be a source of inspiration for today's men and, obviously, he looks incredibly good in the collection'.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers commented: 'Working with Donatella Versace has been an extremely pleasant experience. The clothes created by Versace over the years have always been considered to be the sexiest and both Donatella and Mario have worked very well together to give this campaign a really new image. The clothes were simply beautiful and the shooting was so easy and stimulating that it almost didn't seem like work. I am very honored to associate my name with such a prestigious fashion house and having the opportunity to work with extraordinary people like Donatella Versace and Mario Testino has made me realize how exciting and rewarding working in fashion can be'.

The portfolio of photographs will be published in fashion and lifestyle magazines worldwide from July.
